The Harris creek launch ramp is closed as of Monday, Sept 30, 8:00pm
We made great efforts and pushed the limit in an attempt to keep the last operating launch ramp at San Antonio open for public use. The staff has put in a lot of hours in moving the ramps, removing tons of mud and other debris in an effort to keep the ramp open for the public. Unfortunately we have reached a lake elevation where no amount of effort will allow us to continue to safely operate the launch ramp for public use.
So it is with great difficultly that I am informing staff that as of 8 pm tonight September 30th that the Harris Creek Ramp will be closed and the cable will not be reopened on the morning of October 1st.
Canoes, kayaks and small aluminum type boats that can be hand launched will still have shore access to the lake. These water craft will need to be inspected for Quagga at the Ranger’s office or the Parks Administration building Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. On weekends the Quagga inspection will be performed at the resort between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
We will continue to operate the entry gate at South Shore through Sunday October 6th at which point the entry gate will be closed until further notice. Starting on October 1st the operating hours of the gate will be 6:00 am – 2:00 pm this is for customer service purposes. This will allow parks to have someone to provide information to those customers arriving early.
